This rouge hat made me feel a little Frenchified so headed over to Alliance Française to say what’s up. And because it’s a walk from my apartment. And I like the brick buildings around there. Good for photos.
But, the folks who work at the Alliance Française are haltingly polite so I made like une petite souris (a little mouse) and quietly sniffed out the library to see if I could borrow something I’ve not seen.
I ♥ French comedies. My favorite right now is The Closet (Le Placard). Gérard Dépardieu plays un salaud (a-hole) who pushes for a guy to get fired from his firm just because he does not like him. But then the joke turns against him.
Daniel Auteuil is the would-be-fired man and un con (a total dud). But, he’s an an endearing dud. Someone compares him to a pigeon in the movie and he is.
His character is like a wounded bird who keeps flying into your eye. You want to capture it because well you need that eye and also because you want to heal that broken wing.
Because you have un coeur d’artichaut (a soft heart that makes you fall in love easily)
Now you can insult AND woo in French!
